I’ve worked on several really interesting projects over the last year but one of the highlights was implementing a map-driven story experience that describes the risks and impacts of climate change. Climate change is a topic that’s important to me and it was great to be able to work on a project in this area, which used maps and rich content to guide the visitor through a complex story. Working with two designers and a strategist, as well as project stakeholders, the project was very collaborative and I’m pleased with what we put together between us.Beyond web development, being a freelancer gave me the flexibility to do two month-long stays in Lyon studying French, after which I was able to pass an exam in intermediate French, while also taking advantage of living somewhere else for a bit.
I’m a senior frontend developer and technical lead, focusing on building solutions that are performant, maintainable and accessible, built around good user experiences and brand standards. I build responsive websites, web applications, UI prototypes, design systems, data visualisations and map-based experiences.I can join the project once all requirements and designs have been finalised, or come on board earlier to help you figure out how best to deliver a solution, whether that’s through analysis, documentation or prototypes. I’m very comfortable working in client facing roles, and can either work as a sole developer or part of a larger team. Since 2007 I have worked with web and creative agencies, tech companies and small businesses to build and deliver web products for clients from a wide range of sectors and industries including ESG / sustainability, health and fitness, travel and tourism, education, retail, and the corporate sector.
